Form | Art X Music

This week’s instalment of our Art X Music series comes from visual artist Babak Ganjei. His iconic movie ideas, text based work and unique posters have been seen at festivals, in galleries and in publications for the likes of Rough Trade. He’s illustrated our line-up at Visions Festival every year and we’re so grateful he agreed to answer our questions. Check out what he’s got to say below and see a selection of his art to the right…

How would you describe your work to someone who’s never seen it?
Very simple and really complicated

What are you working on at the moment?
I actually just made a short film for this collection of comedy shorts going out on E4 I think at the end of the month so just finishing that.

If you could collaborate with anyone, who would you pick and what would you make?
Maybe I would get Jon Brion to write a soundtrack for my life which I could just have playing as i wander about

What are you listening to at the moment? Any recommendations?
I just discovered this Dutch band called The Homesick on Sub Pop very much enjoying that, a bit of Crack Cloud, The new Malkmus album, Weyes Blood and some random animal noises to every now and again pretending I’m not still in my urban living room, but in a tropical living room…That’s been today at least.¬†

What are you most looking forward to doing once all this is over?
Just before Lockdown I foolishly bought some Trainers. I could give them a spin
