Describe your music for someone who’s never heard it?
deathcrash (not as heavy as it sounds) is Matt Weinberger, Tiernan Banks, Patrick Fitzgerald and Noah Bennett.
deathcrash is a post-rock/ slowcore/ melodic post-hardcore band from London. We play slow, long songs using guitars, drums, and dynamic range.
Who are some artists who’re inspiring you right now?
PF: Scuti – Deftones
TB: Phosphorescent – Lingua Ignota
MW: Jim O’Rourke – Valium Aggelein
NB: Stove – toe
What’s been your highlight of 2020?
NB: We have somehow managed to have a really busy year, we started by going on tour with BC,NR which felt really important for us as a band still finding our feet at that time. We then went on to record and release our second EP.
But I think given the circumstances, and the number of shows cancelled this year, I think our headline show at St Pancras Old Church was my highlight. We managed to squeeze this in October, between various lockdowns, which was our first time playing together after months apart.
What are you most excited about for 2021?
NB: To finally play some more shows and hopefully visit new parts of the country at the same time. Our debut album will also be coming out this year, which we have been working hard on for a long time and can’t wait to share.
Tell us about a band/artist that you’re excited to hear more from in 2021?
NB: Sprain have undoubtedly been our favourite discovery of 2020, their album “as lost through collision” is an absolute gem. We seem to share a lot of influences and we can’t wait to see what they put out this year.
